          Carlo De Biaggio

Biography

Born in Udine (Italy) on May 24th 1994, Carlo grew up in a musical environment and started taking music lessons at the age of 3, under the instruction of Giorgio Cozzutti.

In 2003, keeping on taking theory and solfeggi rudiments, he started playing piano under Cozzutti’s mentorship, but ended up quitting 2 years later. After a while, almost randomly, in a music store, he discovered electric bass, falling in love with it immediately. His first bass teacher is Luciano Marangone.

In 2009, Carlo started playing classical and jazz upright bass joining the Conservatory in Udine with Franco Feruglio and Simone Serafini. Two years later he joined for the first time a real jazz band, ending up performing regularly. Meanwhile, his influences have always been open to any style, and he has always tried to experience as many moods as possible taking part in funk/hip-hop, blues, pop, latin, progressive rock/metal, electronic or orchestral projects, beside jazz.

In 2012, Carlo De Biaggio attended the yearly Summer Berklee Program, which takes place in Perugia (Italy) during the Umbria Jazz festival and he won a scholarship for the yearly Berklee Summer Camp. A year later Carlo attended the Five-Week program at Berklee, Boston and got another scholarship that allowed him to enroll at Berklee College of Music in 2014 as an undergraduate student. In addition Carlo has also been attending weekly classes held by Glauco Venier in Udine Conservatory and joined the jazz collective formed by the students of the jazz department.
In his third semester here at Berklee Carlo auditioned for a cruise ship gig with Guille & The B. Band, a latin jazz quintet. They got hired by MSC Cruises Company and sent on board of the ship "MSC Divina". He has been performing on board of the above mentioned everyday for almost 5 months (Jan-May 2016), playing both upright bass and electric and doing some background vocals before coming back to Boston to pursue his studies.

In May 2018 Carlo graduated Summa Cum Laude (Performance Major) under the guide of Fernando Huergo, James Genus, Whit Browne, Susan Hagen, Lincoln Goines and Michael Pope He had also the chance to attend clinics and individual classes with legendary players such as Eddie Gomez, John Clayton, John Patitucci, Victor Wooten, Ron Carter, Jeff Berlin, Alain Caron, Marco Panascia, Leland Sklar.
